It takes little imagination to conjure a classic image of Pete Rose running out one of his 4,256 career hits, helmet in midair as part of his hard-charging style of play. This terrific helmet is from very early in his career - in fact it is the earliest Rose helmet that we have seen. The fiberglass shell is painted red on the outside and green under the bill, the Cincinnati "C" is hand-painted on the front in white, and American Baseball Cap size 7 sticker is inside along with "ROSE" in red Dymo tape. No surprise in that it was worn by a guy nicknamed "Charlie Hustle," it shows terrific use, and is cracked on the side, which is probably why it was taken out of game action.
