Official program book for the June 22, 1938 rematch between Max Schmeling and Joe Louis. This fight was not only a rematch of heavyweight fighters, but also the rematch of a propaganda battle between two heavyweight nations; America and Nazi Germany. Program book is 8 1/2" x 11" and 24 pages including cover. It is in VG-EX overall with some scuffing and creases on the spine and cover. There is some clear tape on the inside front and back covers and on an inside page as well. The rematch took place like the first match at a capacity filled Yankee Stadium. The world listened in on their radios as the fight was not televised. Louis knocked Schmeling down twice in the 1st round before ultimately knocking him out for good with the third knockdown two minutes into the bout. Hitler was so disgraced that when Schmeling returned to Germany Hitler forced him to become a member of the German Army by volunteering him for paratrooper duty.
