A tremendous relic pertaining to our Civil War President. Broadside announces, “Commissioner’s Sale! Of the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace”. As detailed right on the broadside itself, its purpose was to advertise the auction of “The Lincoln Spring farm, Abraham Lincoln’s birth place, situated in LaRue county, Ky., on the Hodgenville and Magnolia road… and is bounded on the north by Frank Spalding and James I. Friend’s land”. Notified potential buyers that the event was to take place “Monday, August 28, 1905, between the hours of 10 o’clock, A.M., and 3 o’clock P.M., at the Court House door in Hodgenville, LaRue County, Ky. Being the first day of the August term of the LaRue County Court, proceed to expose to Public Sale, to the highest bidder, at public outcry”. Printed name at bottom is “L. B. Handley, Special Commissioner of the LaRue Circuit Court”. All printing is as dark and bold as the day it was posted! Paper is EX+.
