In a typed letter to author-historian, John Rogers Williams, Wilson wishes his associate, “every prosperity to the undertaking to get it [his “Journal”] worthily printed”. Dated, “19 May, 1899”, the letter continues on, “Let me here how it fares, and what further advice you may need”. Signed in strong black fountain pen (8/10). The lightly toned paper includes its original mailing folds along with light creasing o/w EX. The appointment certificate, complete with blue “Navy Department” seal, is decorated with Americana graphics. Roosevelt’s 7.5/10 black fountain pen signing is fluent though lightly faded and the certificate displays some wrinkling and light staining but o/w EX. Framed to 17”x21”.
