Circa 1910s original Type I photograph of the original owner of the Cleveland Baseball Club, Charles W. Somers. The image, 4x5.5" shows Somers in a suit, posing. The photo has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA and the service has verified the item as a Type I photograph. A successful businessman from the coal industry, Somers helped to start the American League in 1901 by beginning a franchise in Cleveland. Also a one-time owner of the Boston baseball club, Somers' fortune helped keep the league afloat in the early days. He would own the Cleveland franchise until 1916 and he passed away in 1934 at the age of 65.
