Original sheet music, titled "Husky Hans," written and composed by Wm J. Hartz and published by "Carnegie Union" in 1904. While baseball sheet music represents a narrow field within the baseball collecting community, "Husky Hans" has always had broad crossover appeal due to its display value. The sheet music, which is dedicated to Honus Wagner, features a full-length image of the legendary "Flying Dutchman," as well as an attractive game-in-progress illustration, on the cover. Wagner's facsimile signature appears directly below his image. Wagner was the game's biggest star at the turn of the century, and what greater fame was there at the time than to have a song written about you. This is one of the earliest baseball sheet musics featuring an actual photo of a ballplayer on the cover and it remains a requisite for any advanced baseball sheet music, Honus Wagner, or Pittsburgh Pirates collection. The sheet music (10.75x14") is lightly toned and displays a few tiny tears along the top border. The number "3071" is lightly written in pencil on the back cover. A fine example of this iconic sheet music and one that is perfect for display.
