Presented is the opportunity to possess an offering of two original Hartland Figures, prized vintage figurines: Baseball Hall of Famers Ted Williams and Eddie Mathews. Hartland was founded in 1941 in Wisconsin, the first company to produce licensed sports figures. The company's first series of baseball figures came out in 1958, and it was designated as the 900 Series. Made from mold-injected acetate plastic resin, the Hartland figures were hand-painted in acetate base paint. The figures stand 8.5" tall. The original figures include Hall of Famers Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, Warren Spahn, Mickey Mantle, and Babe Ruth. More figures were added to the 900 Series in 1963, including Willie Mays, Roger Maris, Luis Aparicio, and Ernie Banks. The company underwent several changes in ownership, and in 1978 stopped producing the figures. In the 2000s, the figures were once again produced, by a company called Hartland LLC. 

The Ted Williams figure has the "REDS" of Red Sox visible on the front of the jersey. A red number "9" is on the jersey back. The Splendid Splinter played his entire 19-year career with the Boston Red Sox, and blasting 521 home runs while winning six AL batting crowns and batting .406 in '41, the last Major Leaguer to do so. Naturally, Williams is depicted in the follow through of his swing. The Williams figure has a blue cap with a red bill and a white "M" on the cap front. The figure comes with a 4" bat, slightly bent in the handle - a bat that can be placed into the figure's hands. The figure has red socks, and the hand painted details even show Williams' blue eyes. Mathews is the only player to have played for the Braves in three cities: Boston, Milwaukee, and Atlanta. No batting slouch himself, he crashed 512 home runs. He was also an excellent third baseman and the offered figure has a fielder's glove and the Mathews figure seems about the throw out a runner from third base. The Mathews figure has "41" on both the front and back of the jersey. The Ted Williams figure is missing a toe plate, but otherwise both figures are in EXCELLENT condition.
