It's hard to imagine, but in 1934, there were more than 450,000 commercial airplane passengers, just 31 years after successful, engine propelled flight was invented, credited to the Wright Brothers, Wilbur and Orville. Presented is a January 4, 1934, check signed by one of the inventors of engine propelled flight, Orville Wright. The Wright Brothers were mechanically minded, and they owned and ran a bicycle shop in Dayton, Ohio. Their first accredited, propelled airplane flight occurred on Dec. 17, 1903. By 1905, they had developed a plane capable of powered, sustained, controlled flight - the first practical aircraft.

The offered Orville Wright signed check, measuring 3.2x8.5", shows "Winters National Bank & Trust Co., Dayton, Ohio." The check, in the amount of six dollars ($6.00), is dated as "January 4, 1934." It is payable to "DR. T.[?] E. Lilly." Using blue ink from a fountain pen, Orville Wright crafted a neat, big and bold signature. The check, number "766," has been cashed. The offering is in EXCELLENT condition. The check has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA Certified as "AUTHENTIC AUTO."
