Offered is the chance to obtain a Grover Cleveland Alexander cut signature with a Beckett grade of GEM MINT 9. Alexander is a Hall of Fame right-hander with 373 lifetime wins, tied for third place in the MLB victory records with Christy Mathewson. Alexander pitched from 1911-26, all in the National League: Philadelphia Phillies (1911-17 & 1930), Chicago Cubs (1918-26), St. Louis Cardinals (1926-29). His lifetime mark included 268 losses and an ERA of 2.56. Alexander won three Pitching Triple Crowns, five ERA titles, and he was the pitching hero of the Chicago Cubs 1926 World Series crown. The cut signature is on a piece of paper or light card stock that would measure approx. 2x4", except for a triangular piece that was cut out in the upper left corner. Alexander signed as "Grover C Alexander" in neatly scripted blue fountain ink. There is some light foxing across approx. the top third of the paper or card stock. As a whole, there is some slight darkening on the signing surface, and the paper/card stock, except for the light foxing and darkening, is in fine condition. The cut signature has been encapsulated, and with its Beckett Autograph Grade of "10," it makes a prized remembrance of one of baseball's all-time greats.
