John Franklin "Home Run" Baker earned his wonderful nickname by hitting clutch round-trippers and leading the American League in home runs in four seasons, although the Hall of Famer never blasted more than a dozen homers in a year. Offered is an amazing Home Run Baker cut signature and heavy inscription on the blank side of an index card. For his career, Baker played 13 seasons, all in the American League: Philadelphia A's (1908-14), New York Yankees (1916-19 & 1921-22). The third baseman batted a lifetime .307 with 96 home runs and 991 RBIs. He was a member of the Philadelphia A's famous $100,000 infield, and he won three World Championships with Connie Mack's Athletics. The Baker signature and inscription were written on the blank side of a 3x5" index card that exhibits some very slight darkening and foxing. Signing in very neat script with ink with a fine-tip fountain pen, Baker wrote, "J. Franklin Baker/3rd Base New York Yankees & Philadelphia American League/1908-22." The offering has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA CERTIFIED AUTO GRADE of "NM-MT 8."
