Original glass plate negative, culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archives, capturing several members of the Philadelphia Athletics warming up on the sideline prior to a game at the Polo Grounds. The two players in the foreground appear to be Bris Lord (far left) and Chief Bender. Although no year is listed, Bris Lord played with the Athletics only from 1910-12. The New York Highlanders played some of their home games at the Polo Grounds in 1912, so this image may have been taken prior to a regular-season game in 1912. If not, then it must have been taken prior to a 1911 World Series game against the New York Giants. The negative (7x5") displays areas of emulsion loss along the top border, as well as a few light scratches. Please note: the positive image seen on our website is for illustrative purposes only and does not accompany the negative; only the negative is offered in this lot.
