Original Type I photograph capturing Babe Ruth at Yankee Stadium on Babe Ruth Day in 1947. Ruth is pictured in closeup, wearing his trademark camelhair cap and coat, chomping on a stogie. Babe Ruth Day was held on April 27, 1947, and the ceremony marked Ruth's penultimate appearance at Yankee Stadium. Although he was quite ill at the time, he gave a warm speech to the over 58,000 fans who turned out that day to honor their idol. This image was even used for his 1980 Franchise #73 trading card. Both an International News Photo and United Press International Pictures credit stamp appear on the reverse, along with remnants of the original paper news caption. The photo (5x7") remains in Excellent condition. Encapsulated and certified as Type I Authentic by PSA.
