Presented is a September 27, 1947, Type I, original William C. Greene photo of Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Tris Speaker at Yankee Stadium at an Old-Timers' Game on the last day of the regular season. Ruth was ill with cancer, and earlier that year, on April 27, 1947, Babe Ruth Day had been held at Yankee Stadium. Ruth had retired partway through the 1935 season. He finished his 22-year Major League career with his then-record 714 home runs, a .342 batting average, and a lifetime pitching record of 94-46, with an ERA of 2.28. The offered 8x10" black & white photo shows Ruth, gaunt and in an overcoat. The Bambino is flanked by fellow Inaugural Hall of Famer Ty Cobb, to Ruth's right, and Hall of Famer Tris Speaker, to Ruth's left. The back of the photo is stamped, PHOTO BY WM. C. GREEENE. The back also has several pencil notations, written by an unknown hand: Ty Cobb - Babe Ruth - Tris Speaker; old-timers game last day 1947; Ruth; and 9-27-47. The photo has a fold in the lower right corner but is in overall fine condition. It has been encapsulated and PSA Certified TYPE I AUTHENTIC.
