Over a century ago, when Tiger Stadium was known as Navin Field, this wooden ticket box with metal hooks, handle, lock, and clasps functioned as a ticket stub container at the entry gates. Measuring 8x12x8". It has two brackets on the back so that it could be hung on a railing. The box made the rounds at the stadium, as it was carried back and forth from the gate to the ticket counters' room after every game. And it could have also been used at football games. It was likely retired when the venue was renamed Briggs Stadium after the 1938 season. It is in fine condition and does show use. A lock is included but it does not work and may not have been used with this particular box. NAVIN FIELD, and 55 TICKETS is stenciled in paint on the front. The 55 likely stands for the location (entrance) where this was used.
