Pittsburgh Pirates road jersey worn by coach Johnny Riddle in 1950. The gray flannel jersey is lettered "Pittsburgh" across the front and features the number "34" on the reverse. All letters and numerals are applied in black on gold felt. Located in the collar are an "A. G. Spalding & Bros." label, a "44" size/laundry tag, and a gray strip tag bearing the player's name and year ("J. Riddle 50") chain-stitched in black. The jersey is all original and displays moderate-to-heavy wear, including light soiling throughout. Catcher Johnny Riddle's long 19-year professional baseball career was odd because during that time he played only seven seasons in the Major Leagues. After retiring as a player in 1957 he embarked on a coaching career that included stints with the Pirates (1948-1950), Cardinals (1952-1955), Braves (1956-1957), Reds (1958), and Phillies (1959).
