Winner of 15 of 22 career starts and over $2 million during her racing career, Sharp Cat was one of the best fillies of her generation. In 1996, as a 2-year-old, Sharp Cat won the Grades I Matron and Hollywood Starlet. She earned three more Grade I wins in her sophomore season, capturing the 1997 Las Virgenes, Santa Anita Oaks, and Acorn. She also won the the Santa Ysabel that same year, while setting a new stakes record. On December 7, 1997, Sharp Cat won the Bayakoa Handicap in the first walkover in the history of Hollywood Park Racetrack. Racing as a 4-year-old for trainer Wally Dollase, Sharp Cat won two more Grade I races, the Ruffian Handicap and the Beldame, the latter of which produced this saddle cloth. In the Beldame, Sharp Cat earned the third highest Beyer Speed Figure ever recorded by a filly - next to the 120s earned by Princess Rooney and Mariah's Storm. In the 20 years since, no filly or mare has earned a higher Beyer Speed Figure than Sharp Cat earned in the Beldame. The saddle cloth is in excellent race worn condition and is gold with red and black accents, which is atypical for the #5 horse. Measures 36x42".
