Midnight Lute dazzled racing fans in the 2000s with a thrilling late-closing style he employed mainly at sprint distances. Since Andy Beyer starting publishing his Beyer Speed Figures in 1992, the highest score ever recorded in a sprint was accomplished by Midnight Lute in the 2007 Forego Stakes - a 124. Offered here is the saddle cloth he wore in that race - still containing a lot of dirt from Lute's track record performance that day at Saratoga Race Course. Midnight Lute would later in the year earn the first of his back-to-back Breeders' Cup Sprint titles and be named Eclipse Champion for Outstanding Sprinter. Measures 36x42". Midnight Lute currently stands at Hill n' Dale Farms and has become a successful stallion.
