This 1955 Elmira Free Academy high school yearbook was signed by The Elmira Express himself, Ernie Davis. Davis' story is one of an athlete with incredible talent that never got to realize his full potential. The gifted running back attended Syracuse University in his home state of New York and became the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy in 1961. He was a number one overall selection in the 1962 NFL Draft, but died a little more than a year later after a brief battle with leukemia. The yearbook was signed and personalized by Davis, saying "You'll be missed." It has also been signed by other classmates and comes with a JSA LOA.
