These eighteen 35mm full color negatives/transparencies show amazing ring shots of Muhammad Ali's dominance in his 1972 rematch with Floyd Patterson. The legend is that in the first fight Ali punished the disrespecting Patterson for refusing to call him by his rightful name of “Muhammad Ali,” instead condescendingly referring to him as “Clay.” Not true - Muhammad actually had great respect for the groundbreaking former champion and compassionately tried to end it, as he did here. Patterson did show some flashes of his former brilliance in this bloody rematch. Images are in NM-MT condition.
The original negatives and images in this collection are by the personal photographer of Ali's manager Herbert Muhammad. Unpublished, they have not seen the light of day for five decades. Recently discovered, they come with the photographer’s rights. All of the negs/transparencies are unique, “Type I” images that can be used to make prints and products of the finest quality and huge scale.
