What this 1930's Yankees photo lot lacks in huge names (no Babe Ruth or Lou Gehrig) it more than makes up for in photo quality. The images are mostly professional single player shots, including the likes of Monte Pearson, Frank Crosetti, Charlie Keller, Luke Appling and manager Joe McCarthy. A standout is a riveting portrait of then-Yanks third baseman, Ben Chapman by Underwood. Chapman, now infamous for his racially motivated verbal abuse of Jackie Robinson in '47, at the time was best known as a relentlessly talented base stealer. Several photos are by noted Cleveland press photographers Herman Seid and L Van Oeyen. Also, plenty of photographic evidence can be found here of the Yankees' 5 World Championships in the 1930s. The condition ranges from VG to MT with a higher that usual concentration of amazing, NM to MT quality photos. Roughly sized from 5x7" to 8x10".
