Hockey Hall of Famer Nels Stewart was the NHL’s all-time goal scoring leader between the years of 1940 and 1952. He was nicknamed “Old Poison” because of his deadly accurate shot. Stewart also liked to muck it up and was not above using his stick to carve up his opponents. In the 1925-26 season he won the Hart Trophy as the league’s MVP and led the Maroons to a Stanley Cup championship. Stewart hung up his skates in 1940 with a then NHL record 324 goals which stood until Maurice Richard eclipsed it on November 8, 1952. Original photo (7 X 8”) of Stewart in a Montreal Maroons uniform. Signed in 8/10 black fountain ink “To Jim Best of Luck, Nels Stewart.” Jim is Hockey HOF author Jim Hendy. Photo is EX-MT.
