"Especially Willie, Mickey, and the Duke," is the iconic refrain from Terry Cashman's hit song Talkin' Baseball. The Duke, of course, is none other than Edwin Snider, born in Southern California, but elevated to royalty by Brooklyn Dodgers fans of the late 1940s-50s. Presented is an original, Type I, Barney Stein photograph of the Dodgers' Hall of Fame center fielder. As a youth, one of Duke's heroes was Jackie Robinson, a four-sport letter winner at UCLA, eight years older than Snider. Then, in 1947, they were rookies together on Brooklyn's pennant winners and they became friends. The Duke of Flatbush was a true hero of the 1950s. Snider hit 326 home runs in the decade of the 1950s, more than anyone in baseball. His 1,031 RBIs in that decade also led all Major Leaguers. The Duke was a 2-time World Champion with the Dodgers and an 8-time All-Star. After 16 seasons with the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers, Snider finished his career with the 1963 New York Mets and the 1964 San Francisco Giants.

The 8x10" black & white Barney Stein photo shows Snider flashing a warm smile in his Dodgers home uniform. The back of the photo has a "Brooklyn National League Baseball Club" stamp. Also, on back is "Snider" written in pencil by an unknown hand. The photo is in EXCELLENT condition. It has been encapsulated and PSA certified "TYPE I AUTHENTIC" (84230265).
