Original Type I news photograph capturing future Hall of Fame slugger Frank Robinson posing on the field during his 1956 rookie season. Robinson is all smiles as he strikes a batting pose on the sideline prior to a home game at Crosley Field in Cincinnati. Robinson's stamped name appears on the reverse, along with several handwritten editorial notations. Although no year is listed, the uniform style shown here, including the solid-color cap, conclusively dates it to 1956. Robinson enjoyed a banner season during his rookie campaign, batting .290 with 38 home runs and 83 RBI. Those numbers not only earned him Rookie of the Year honors at season's end, but he also finished seventh in the league's MVP voting. This is one of the earliest photos we have seen of Robinson as a Major League player and one that would be among the highlight of any advanced Hall of Fame photo collection. The photo (7.75x9.75") displays a few very light creases and minor editorial outlining to Robinson's image. Encapsulated as Type I Authentic by PSA.
