Heinie Groh H&B signature-model "bottle" bat (predating model numbers stamped on bats) dating from the 1922-25 labeling period. Graded GU 9 by PSA. This is one of the most unusual and distinctive game used bats in the hobby, notable for its thin handle and ultra-wide barrel, which measures 8.5" in diameter. Because of that, it has always been a favorite among bat collectors and makes for a wonderful conversation piece (it's impossible to see it and not pick it up to take a practice swing). The bat, which is not cracked, measures 33 inches in length and weighs 40.8 ounces. Moderate use is displayed throughout, including several ball marks on the barrel. There are also several nicks along the handle. It should be noted that at the time the bat was produced, model numbers were not stamped on H&B bats. However, within the H&B inventory logs, this bat was recorded as model "G66," and that model number is listed on PSA's accompanying LOA. Groh enjoyed a successful 16-year Major League career (1912-27) that included two stints with the New York Giants, the Cincinnati Reds, and one year with the Pirates. Groh was a member of the 1919 World Champion Reds, and he also won a World Championship with the Giants in 1922. A .292 lifetime hitter, Groh continued to play in the minors through the 1932 season before officially retiring at the age of 43. Full LOA from PSA (graded GU 9).
