Between the years 1919 and 1931 the New York Giants baseball team issued uniquely designed sterling silver season passes to their season ticket holders and VIPs, all of which featured the recipient's name and pass number on the reverse. Today, those passes are highly prized by collectors, with complete sets found in only the most advanced collections. The offered pass was issued for the 1931 season. The pass (1.75x1.25"), which features an image of three depressed fans and is titled "Fanned Out," reads "Giants 1931 - Chas. A. Stoneham Pres." on the front. The reverse engraving features the pass number ("367") and the name of the recipient ("Bernard Thomson & One"). Smaller engravings at the base of the reverse list the manufacturer ("Lambert Bros. N.Y.:) and the silver composition ("Sterling"). It should be noted that the image featured on the front of the pass is the second panel of a famous baseball cartoon created by artist Dana Gibson. The first panel of that cartoon was used on the Giants' 1930 season pass. Light tarnishing on the front and reverse, as well as a few small scratches on the reverse, otherwise it remains in Near Mint condition. The is one of five different New York Giants silver season passes featured in this auction, all of which are new to the hobby.
