Pittsburgh Pirates alternate jersey (used both at home and on the road) worn by Hall of Fame outfielder Dave Parker during the 1982 season. Graded A10 by MEARS. The yellow knit jersey is lettered "Pirates" on the front and features the number "39" on the left breast and reverse. "Parker" is lettered upon a yellow nameplate on the reverse, directly above the number. All numerals and front letters are applied in black on white tackle twill. All reverse letters are applied in black tackle twill. A "Wilson 48" label appears in the collar. Located on the left front tail is a yellow strip tag that displays the uniform number, year, and set number ("39 82 1") chain-stitched in black. The jersey is original as issued and displays moderate use.
Parker appeared in just 73 games in 1982 as a result of missing twelve weeks with both wrist and thumb injuries. Those ailments hampered him at the plate, as he finished the season with 6 home runs, 29 RBI, and a .270 batting average. Those numbers, of course, were not the norm for the "Cobra," who was one of the top hitters in baseball from the mid-1970s through the early 1980s. A two-time National League batting champion (1977 and 1978), Parker batted over .300 for five consecutive seasons from 1975 to 1979 and helped lead the Pirates to the World Championship in 1979. In addition to winning the MVP Award in 1978, Parker was also a six-time All-Star (he was the MVP of the 1979 All-Star Game) and three time Gold Glove winner. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2025. Full LOA from MEARS (Jersey Graded A10).
