Davey O'Brien was the 1938 Heisman Trophy winner for his quarterback play with Texas Christian University, and he later played two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Offered is a David O'Brien signed index card. O'Brien also won the Maxwell Award for 1938, and he is the first quarterback to win both the Heisman and Maxwell Trophies. In that 1938 season, he quarterbacked the Horned Frogs to an undefeated season, outscoring opponents by 269-60. During '38, O'Brien completed 93 of 166 passes for 1,457 yards and 19 touchdowns. TCU defeated Carnegie Tech in the Sugar Bowl that season and TCU became the National Champions. O'Brien is in the College Football Hall of Fame. O'Brien went on to play two seasons in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, the first Heisman winner to play in the NFL. In '39, O'Brien led the NFL in passing yardage (1,324).

O'Brien, using blue ink from a fountain pen, used big and bold script to neatly sign one of the blank sides of the index card as "David O'Brien." Hand-printed in pencil by an unknown hand on the same side of the card as O'Brien's signature: "O'Brien, Davy [sic]/Football/TCU '38/Heisman/'39 Eagles." The card exhibits some very slight darkening, and it is in overall EXCELLENT condition. The index card has been encapsulated and "PSA/DNA CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC AUTO."
