Displayed is a 1978 Steve Martin original photograph from early in the entertainer's career. The versatile Martin has been a writer, stand-up comic, movie star, and musician. He was a writer for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour on television, and a frequent host of Saturday Night Live. His comedy is often absurdist, and he has cited his influences: Charlie Chaplain, Jack Benny, Laurel and Hardy, Woody Allen, and Jerry Lewis. Some of his many movies: The Jerk; Planes, Trains and Automobiles; Pennies From Heaven; All of Me; and L.A. Story. Martin has received five Grammy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and an Honorary Academy Award.

The offered black & white photo measures 8x9.8". It has a few folds, mostly near the corners, and a few tiny spots of paper loss. Some light foxing, a few very small stains, and what appears to be a small editing mark is in the top right corner. On back is a caption from a story about Martin, and a typed "MARTIN, STEVE - IND Comedian." The photo has been encapsulated and PSA CERTIFIED as TYPE I AUTHENTIC.
