Cheers was one of television's biggest all-time hit comedy series. Displayed is a 1982 NBC-TV original cast photo. Cheers, set in a bar by the same name, ran for 11 seasons, 1982-93, and it produced 275 episodes. The show received 179 Primetime Emmy Award Nominations, and 28 Emmy Awards. It also earned six Golden Globe Awards, and it finished in the top ten of the Neilsen Ratings in seven years. Its final episode was one of the most watched comedic shows in television history. The four original cast members are pictured, left-to-right, in the offering: 1) Nicholas Colasanto as Ernie "Coach" Pantuso - a former pitching coach for the Boston Red Sox and a friend of Sam Malone; 2) Rhea Perlman as Carla Tortelli - waitress at the bar; Ted Danson as Sam "Mayday" Malone - a former Red Sox relief pitcher, now an alcoholic and owner/bartender of the bar; Shelly Long as Diane Chambers, a waitress/graduate student who becomes the on-again-off-again girlfriend of Sam Malone. 

The offered photo measures 7x8.9". On back is the NBC logo and "NBC Photo/Press Department/ATTENTION PHOTO EDITORS: 'Cheers,' NBC-TV's upcoming comedy series about characters who work in and patronize a sports-oriented bar in Boston, will be colorcast Thursdays (9-9:30 p.m. NYT)." The back also reads, "SERIES REGULAR--Rhea Perlman plays a waitress in a Boston bar in 'Cheers,' a new comedy series about a neighborhood emporium known for its unusual characters, camaderies [sic] and lively debates...." The back also has editing marks. This is one of the earlier photos of the cast, dated "Fall, 1982," before John Ratzenberger (as Cliff Clavin) and George Wendt (as Norm Peterson) became main cast members.
