"I swing big, with everything I've got. I hit big or miss big. I like to live as big as I can," said the immortal Babe Ruth, who always lived big, on-and-off the field. Offered is an early 1930s magnificent, vintage, original, one-of-a-kind film negative of Babe Ruth, indeed swinging big, with everything he's got, as he clobbers a baseball during batting practice at Comiskey Park in Chicago. The 4.9x6.9" negative was taken by legendary photographer George Burke. In the early 1930s, Ruth was playing out his last few years with the New York Yankees. His last great season was in '32, at age 37, when he took the Yankees to his seventh World's Championship, and batted .341, with 41 homers and led the AL in both RBIs (130) and OBP (.489). Ruth became a merely very good player in 1933-34, and he finished his career with a poor half-season with the National League's Boston Braves in 1935, The negative shows the weight that Ruth added in his final years, but the negative also demonstrates the classic, beautifully graceful, big follow-through of the Bambino. The Babe's photo negative also depicts his perfect weight shift from back foot to front foot, with his eyes still on the ball, even after making solid contact. The skill of famed photographer George Burke shows in the very crisp image. The negative is in EXCELLENT condition, and it would make great prints.
