Leather-bound album containing 105 vintage snapshot photos originating from the personal collection of Hall of Fame outfielder Max Carey. All the photos in the album were taken during trips made by Carey and his family between the years 1915 and 1919. Nearly all feature handwritten notations in the margins of the album providing the year and locale of the respective photo. Most are travel scenes, but twelve of the photos clearly picture Carey. Many of these photos were taken while Carey was barnstorming, either in 1915 with a group of all-star players players on the West coast, or in 1919 with his Pirates teammates in Havana, Cuba. Of the twelve photos that picture Carey, three capture him in uniform. The highlight is a team photo of the 1915 all-star club, which includes both Carey and Johnny Evers. Photos vary slightly in size, but most are approximately 5.5x3.25 inches. All the photos were originally mounted in a different album and then transferred by a family member to the offered album. As such, nearly all display paper residue on the reverse as a result of their removal from the older album. Many also display vintage handwritten notations either on the front and/or reverse. Very Good condition overall. All the photos can be easily removed from the album if so desired. Included in the album are three larger non-vintage reprint photos of Carey in uniform.
