Rare original Type I photograph capturing Muhammad Ali with his hands triumphantly in the air after knocking out Sonny Liston during their historic title rematch in Lewiston, Maine, on May 25, 1965. Referee Jersey Joe Walcott is shown directing Ali to a neutral corner as Liston struggles to get to his feet. A UPI credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with the original paper news caption, dated "5/25/65." Ali's knockdown of Liston, later called "The Phantom Punch," has always been controversial and in the caption, the news service concludes by writing "Clay retained his crown by scoring a weird, one-minute knockout over Liston." The photo (7.5x10") displays a few light creases in the upper border areas. Encapsulated as Type I Authentic by PSA.
