Offered is the chance to possess a 1950 ticket stub from the Philadelphia Phillies pennant-clinching game on Oct. 1st at Ebbets Field, Brooklyn, when the Phils defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers by a 4-1 score in ten innings. Going into the game, the final contest of the season for both squads, the Phillies held a one game lead over the Dodgers. The Phillies could win the NL Pennant with a victory, but the Dodgers could win and force a three-game playoff. Don Newcombe started for Brooklyn and Robin Roberts started for the Phils. The Phils scored the game's first run in the top of the sixth on a single by Willie "Puddin' Head" Jones. The Dodgers tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on a home run by Pee Wee Reese. In the top of the 10th inning, Dick Sisler hit a 3-run homer for the Phils off Newcombe, and Roberts held the Dodgers scoreless in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Phillies, known as "The Wiz Kids" because of the team's many young stars, the pennant. Roberts took his 20th win as both starting pitchers went the distance. Hall of Famers in the game: Dodgers - Reese, Snider, Robinson, Campanella, and Hodges. Phillies - Ashburn, Ennis, Roberts. The ticket stub measures approx. 1.25x3.5". In part, the stub reads, "Sun., OCT. 1, 1950/ENTER GATE MARBLE ROTUNDA/LOGE SEAT/$3.00 RAIN CHECK."
