Displayed is a Harold "Pie" Traynor signed index card on which the Hall of Fame third baseman signed his full name. Traynor obtained his nickname from his fondness for a slice of pie after ball games in his youth. He played his entire Major League career for the Pittsburgh Pirates, playing from 1920-35 & in '37. An all-around player, Traynor is often considered the best third sacker of his era. He batted a career .320, with 1,273 RBIs. He batted over .300 ten times and helped the Pirates to the World Championship in 1925. Traynor was superb on defense. He had a knack of charging slow rollers and using his powerful arm to throw out runners at first base. He was also adept at back-handing balls down the third base line. He was a 7-time NL leader in putouts for a third baseman, and a 3-time NL leader in third base assists. From 1924-27, he was a 4-time consecutive season leader in double plays by a third sacker. Traynor signed the blank side of a 3x5" index card with his full Harold "Pie" Traynor signature, beautifully scripted in big and bold fountain ink. The signed index card has been encapsulated and has a PSA/DNA CERTIFIED AUTO GRADE of "MINT 9."
