Displayed is an Eric Show San Diego Padres game worn jersey, photo-matched to August 25th (Getty 82780058). Show, a starting right-handed pitcher for the Padres in '85, wore this jersey as he pitched against the New York Mets. That Show-pitched game occurred just three of his starts before Show gave up Pete Rose's 4,192nd hit, on Sept. 11th, which broke Ty Cobb's all-time MLB hit record. In Rose's record-breaking hit game at Cincinnati's Riverfront Stadium, the Reds' player/manager hit a 2-1 pitch by Show into left-center field in the first inning to break Ty Cobb's 57-year-old record. Show, born in 1956, pitched for 11 years in the Major Leagues: San Diego Padres (1981-91) and Oakland Athletics (1991). He had a 101-89 career record, with a lifetime ERA of 3.66. In '85 when Show wore the offered jersey, he started 35 games, pitched 233.0 innings, and had a 12-11 record with a 3.09 ERA. Rose, who passed away in October 2024, remains the MLB all-time "Hit King" with 4,256. The gray away jersey has a Wilson size 42 tag in the neck. On the left sleeve is a RAK patch for former Padres' owner Ray Kroc. On the front left outside tail is a "30 85" sewn-on patch. The left chest has a San Diego Padres interlocking "SD" patch, in sewn-on brown letters with orange trim. Seven silver-gray buttons run down the front. On back is "SHOW" in sewn-on brown letters with orange trim. Below the player's name is "30" in sewn-on brown numerals with orange trim. The jersey shows nice wear, yet it remains in EXCELLENT condition.
