Glenn Davis, known as Mister Outside, was a 3-time All-American halfback at West Point and the winner of the 1946 Heisman Trophy. Presented is a circa 1945 Glenn Davis production proof that was used for his 1948-52 W468 Exhibit card (PSA Type III). Davis, a left halfback, won the '46 Heisman Trophy. At 5'9", 172 lbs., Davis handled most of the sweeps and end runs for Army, while burly Doc Blanchard, Mister Inside, handled most of the runs between the tackles. Army went 27-0-1 during the period of 1944-46, winning the National Championship in each season. After being an officer in the U.S. Army, Davis was back in civilian life and on the Los Angeles Rams for the 1950-51 seasons. In spite of a troublesome, chronic knee injury, Davis was named to the NFL Pro Bowl in 1950, and he was on the 1951 Los Angeles Rams NFL Champions. The offered photo measures 8.1x10". The actual image in the photo, aside from its very large margins, measures approx. 4.75x7.5". The margins contain editing marks, but the central, actual photo is in EXCELLENT condition. The back has editing notations and a Ken Schmid photographer's stamp. The offering has been encapsulated and PSA Certified as "TYPE III AUTHENTIC."
