Clyde "Bulldog" Turner was a star center/linebacker in college at Hardin-Simmons and a star at the same positions with the NFL's Chicago Bears. Presented is a circa 1940s Bulldog Turner original Type I production proof used for Turner's 1948-52 W468 Exhibit card image. Bulldog was inducted as a player into both the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. At 6'1", and 237 lbs., Turner was a big player for his time. He was named to the NFL All-Pro team eight times, and he was a key force and leader on the 1940, '41, '43, and '46 Chicago Bears NFL Champions. Turner was an NFL playing-assistant coach, and later the head coach of the 1962 New York Titans, of the fledgling American Football League. The offered photo measures 8x10". There is very minor paper loss in the top viewed left corner, and a speck of paper loss at the top middle. The margins exhibit some foxing and darkening, but overall, the offering is in very good condition. The back shows a stamped "84976," and various editing marks and notations.
