For a baseball aficionado, an original seat from Fenway Park is a prized treasure and offered is not only an original Fenway Park seat, with its original paint, but also an original Fenway Park replacement seat bottom. Fenway Park opened in 1912, and it has been the home field for the Boston Red Sox ever since. It has also been the home grounds for the Boston Redskins, Boston Yanks, and Boston Patriots football teams, and for the National League's Boston Braves. In addition, Fenway Park has hosted many concerts, professional soccer, and even two Winter Classic hockey games of the Boston Bruins. The stadium was constructed in the crowded neighborhood of the Kenmore Square area of Boston, and because the ballpark had to fit into a confined urban block, the stadium has many idiosyncrasies: The 37 feet tall Green Monster in left field; The Triangle in center field, and the very short, likely shorter than its listed 302 feet right field foul pole known as The Pesky Pole. The offered seat (chair) is metal with a wooden seat bottom and wooden back. The wood in the entire original chair and the replacement seat have been painted blue. The number "3" has been stenciled onto the top slat of the seat back. The entire seat measures approx. 31.2" high and 21.5" across. The seat bottoms, both the attached bottom and the replacement bottom, measure 13.25x15.75". The attached seat bottom has three of the six seating slats. The original seat (chair) shows extensive use: rust on various areas of the metal, paint chipping, scratches, and areas of discoloration. The replacement seat bottom shows less wear than the attached seat bottom, but the replacement bottom does exhibit some rusting in spots, and some paint chipping and a few stains. The replacement seat bottom will give the possessor of the seat the option of having the replacement seat bottom installed. Together, the full seat (chair) and the replacement seat bottom weigh 44 lbs. Fenway Park and Wrigley Field are the only two bandbox ballparks left in the Major Leagues, and an original seat from Fenway Park is a valuable addition to any sports collection.
