Presented is a Boston Braves logo that was removed from the home of Lou Perini, the former owner of the Braves in both Boston and Milwaukee, when the house was being sold, and the logo was then repaired. The Braves franchise began in 1876 as the Boston Reds. After playing under a number of nicknames, the franchise became the Boston Braves 1912-52. The team relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the Milwaukee Braves (1953-65), and then became the Atlanta Braves, from 1966-present. The franchise has won World's Championships in three cities: While in Boston, the Braves' greatest season was in 1914 when the team moved from last place during the season to win the NL pennant and then the World Series as the "Miracle Braves." After moving to Milwaukee, the Braves won the World Series in 1957. The franchise later won two World's Championships as the Atlanta Braves. Babe Ruth was a Boston Brave in his last season in baseball in 1935, playing only the first half of the campaign before retiring. Warren Spahn, the Hall of Fame left-hander won 363 games, most of them as a Brave in Boston or Milwaukee. Eddie Mathews, a Hall of Fame third baseman and lefty slugger, is the only player to have played for the Braves in Boston, Milwaukee, and Atlanta, and he hit 512 home runs in a Major League career that was mostly spent as a Brave.

The offered Braves logo has a diameter of 30", and it weighs 22 lbs. The logo is displayed on a composite-like material that is affixed atop a circular wooden backing. The only writing on the logo reads "BOSTON BRAVES," and the logo also shows the proverbial Braves' tomahawk. After being removed from the wall of the Perini home, the logo's wooden backing has been partially replaced, and then repaired. The logo shows extensive use, especially around the edges, on which the wood has a rough cut. There are some minor imperfections such as a few scratches and areas around the perimeter that have darkened. The offering is a nice Braves vintage item that has a great personal connection to the team's former owner.
