Displayed is a beautiful 1950s Marvel Pop Up coin-operated tabletop baseball game in a wooden case. It has a working slot to deposit nickels. It has vivid colors and a baseball diamond with pachinko-style studs, and a movable player controlled by the left-hand knob. The left-hand knob does move the defensive player. The right-hand knob controls the metal balls that are put into play. On a test, the metal balls did not spring far enough to reach the field of play. This may be correctable, but it is not certain if this can be operated or fixed. On the upper left is a "batting average" box so that a batter can track his progress. It is not clear if the batting average box will be operable if the game eventually allows balls to be put into play. Because of evident extensive use, the wooden case exhibits paint loss throughout, scratches on the wood, paint loss from the glass over the field, and veneer loss from the metal coin slot and handles. The game measures 12.5" across the base, 7.75" deep, and 18.2" high, with the measurements excluding the handles and coin slot. The key to open the back is missing and the back is thus closed. It has original parts, and the bright graphics help to give the game a marvelous, vintage feel. It will spark interest in any collection.
