Displayed is a Brooklyn Robins' press pin from the 1920 World Series, when Brooklyn faced the Cleveland Indians. In 1920, the World Series was a best-of-nine-game format. The first three games were at Ebbets Field and Brooklyn won Games 2 and 3. Cleveland won the next four games, all in Cleveland, to win the World Series. Hall of Famer Tris Speaker led the Cleveland batters, hitting .320 for the Series. Hall of Famer Zack Wheat topped the Brooklyn hitters with a .333 average. The best pitcher in the Series was Cleveland's Stan Coveleski, who had a 3-0 record with a minuscule 0.67 ERA. The Brooklyn squad was known as the Robins in this era because they were managed by fan and player favorite, Hall of Famer Wilbert Robinson. This rare pin was issued only to the press covering the games in Brooklyn. The pin has a diameter of 0.75". It has a slight tarnishing but is in very pleasing EXCELLENT condition. The pin has a threaded post on back with clasp that has Dieges & Clust stamped on it.
