Hall of Famer Johnny Bench was a crucial member of the dynasty that earned the nickname of the Big Red Machine, which won four pennants and two World Series during the 1970s. Presented are two Tigergrip brand Cincinnati Reds Johnny Bench game used batting gloves. Bench played 17 years in the Major Leagues, all with Cincinnati. The 14-time All-Star hit 389 home runs and won ten Gold Gloves. He was a 2-time NL MVP and is considered by many to be the best catcher in the history of baseball. The batting gloves are both left-handed, obviously used at separate times by Bench. One has moderate use with pine tar, and the other has heavy use with pine tar. On the glove with moderate use, the Reds logo is partially detached from the Velcro. Both have the Reds logo. Bench's number "5" is written in marker by an unknown hand on the thumb portion of each glove. No size is indicated for the gloves. The offering comes with a personal, signed "Seasons's Greetings" card from Bench that the offering's owner had with these gloves.
