Charlie Hustle was his nickname, and Pete Rose was never accused of not hustling, but he was banned from baseball for gambling on baseball and is ineligible for the Hall of Fame. Presented is the opportunity to possess an eclectic Pete Rose collection, including a Pete Rose-signed copy of the Pete Rose deposition in the Dowd Report (named for investigating attorney John Dowd) that chronicled Rose's baseball gambling, as well as other scarcities, for a total of thirteen (13) items. Rose played Major League Baseball for 24 seasons: Cincinnati Reds (1963-78 & 1984-86), Philadelphia Phillies (1979-83), Montreal Expos (1984). He is baseball's all-time Hit King with 4,256 safeties. Among his many other records, he is the MLB leader in games played, with 3,562. Rose was a 3-time NL batting champion and a 3-time World Champion. He has a .303 career batting average, and he was an All-Star at five positions: 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base, left field and right field. He was a key member of the fabulous Big Red Machine of the 1970s Cincinnati Reds, and the Reds' player-manager from 1984-86. The items in the offered Pete Rose Collection: 1) The Deposition of Peter Edward Rose taken in Dayton, Ohio, on April 21, 1989, at 8;30 o'clock a.m: This bound report emanated from the Office of the Baseball Commissioner and is Volume II of the report, consisting of pages 164-359, measuring 8.5x11". This is riveting testimony from Pete Rose himself, on the record, concerning myriad financial transactions in which he was involved, including loans and his phone calls to bookies, etc. Pete Rose later signed his autograph, in blue ballpoint ink, on the cover of the report. Rose's neat signature, like the way Rose played, is big and bold. 2) A very scarce 1970s t-shirt with three images of Rose on front, size large (42-44) in NRMT condition. 3) A scarce 1978 Cincinnati Reds Tour of Japan program with Rose on the cover. The program is in Japanese and measures approx. 9x11.5". 4) A glass ashtray in nice condition with a base diameter of approx. 3.5", from Pete's old restaurant in Cincinnati, called, not surprisingly Pete Rose's Restaurant. 5) A signed coffee mug from Rose's restaurant in Florida, with Rose's big and bold signature in blue marker. 6) A scarce plastic plate, in excellent condition, with a diameter of 8.25", with Rose's image on it. Plus, MORE. Most items are NRMT. The Rose testimony in this copy of Volume II of the Dowd report makes for fabulous reading. Pages and pages of Pete Rose at bat, not on the playing field, but in a courtroom. Tremendous content from a man fighting for his baseball life. Any baseball fan will want to read Pete Rose's words, and the transcript of those words, as well as the added items, make this a great collection about Pete Rose, baseball's all-time Hit King.
