Rare Jackie Robinson pennant dating from his historic 1947 rookie season. This is the first example of this pennant we have offered in the past twenty-five years and we have seen fewer than ten others at auction during that period. Although no date is listed, Robinson is identified by name along the base, with his position listed as "1st Baseman." 1947 was the only season that Robinson started at first base, which conclusively dates it to his rookie season. (Later versions of this same pennant list his position as "2nd Baseman.") The design features a large image of Robinson in a batting pose, with the text to the right reading Brooklyn Dodgers. The red-felt pennant (25.5") is complete with all four tassels, but displays heavy wear, including moderate soiling, small edge tears, a clipped tip, tack holes, and crazing to the painted graphics.
