Original scoreboard letter "X" that was used at the original Yankee Stadium, circa 1960s/early 1970s. Like most artifacts from the original Yankee Stadium, this piece entered the hobby following its removal from the grounds during the 1973-75 renovation. As such it bears an affixed brass plaque along the base that reads, "From Yankee Stadium/The House That Ruth Built/50th Anniversary/1923-1973." The "X" sign, which is made of plastic, is housed in a metal frame that allowed it to be slotted into the scoreboard. The piece (15x21") displays evidence of many seasons of use, including oxidation, minor chips, and a few splatters of paint.
