Rogers Hornsby, Hall of Fame second baseman, is often considered to be the best right-handed batter in baseball history. Presented is a Rogers Hornsby cut signature signed image. His lifetime average of .358 is second all-time in baseball annals, trailing only the .366 of left-handed batter Ty Cobb. Hornsby played 23 Major League seasons: St. Louis Cardinals (1915-26 & 1933), New York Giants (1927), Boston Braves (1928), Chicago Cubs (1929-32), and St. Louis Browns (1933-37). He was a 2-time NL MVP, a key member of the 1926 St. Louis Cardinals World Champions, and a 7-time NL batting champion. Hornsby had 3,930 hits, 301 home runs, and he batted over .400 in three seasons. He was so dedicated to hitting that he refused to go to movies, feeling that the experience would damage his eyesight. He was also often a player-manager, but his heavy gambling on horse racing and his dictatorial style of managing often caused problems for him. The offered image also contains Hornsby's complete batting statistics for his career. Hornsby signed the image in blue ink, with a neat, bold signature. The approx. 7x9.75" image has been matted and framed to 11.1x13.1". The offering comes with a PSA/DNA Letter of Grading and Authenticity, with an autograph certification: M09860 and an autograph grade of 9.
