Displayed is a rare 1960s vintage signed and inscribed 8x10" photograph of famed actor Fredric March and his actress wife, Florence Eldridge. March was a legendary actor who was a 2-time Academy Award winner as well as a 2-time Emmy winner for his stage work. March was born Ernest Frederick Bickel in 1897, and when getting his start as an actor in New York City, he shortened his mother's maiden name of Marcher into "March" for his stage name. March was a U.S. artillery lieutenant during World War II. He received an Oscar for the lead role in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931) and a second Oscar for The Best Years of Our Lives (1947). Also signing the offered photograph is March's second wife, Florence Eldridge. She appeared in seven films with March. Ben Mankiewicz, the host of television's Turner Classic Movies, once praised March in saying, "... two actors from Hollywood's Golden rate a tier above the rest - Spencer Tracy and Fredric March." The photo is signed and inscribed in blue ink. The inscription and signatures read, "To the Donnelly's/Best wishes/Fredric March and Florence Eldridge." It appears that March wrote the inscription. March passed away in 1975 and Eldridge died in 1988. The signed photograph has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA Certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO.
