"I won't belong to any organization that will have me as a member," was one of the iconic one-liners most associated with the great Groucho Marx. Displayed is a Groucho Marx vintage 1960s cut signature. Born Julius Henry Marx in 1890 in New York City, his stage name became Groucho Marx. Groucho and his brothers were terrific Vaudeville performers. Then, with his brothers, particularly the actor/comedians known as Harpo and Chico, he made great movies, such as Monkey Business, Horse Feathers, Dick Soup, A Night at the Opera, and A Day at the Races. Later in life, Groucho became the host of the radio and television hit show You Bet Your Life. The witty and irrepressible Groucho would improvise jokes as he interviewed contestants, and the quiz show was really a wonderful excuse to have Groucho interact with the contestants. Everything was kept fun and low key, and often if a guest wasn't winning any money, Groucho would ask the guest the simplest question imaginable, such as, "Who is buried in Grant's tomb?" Thus, the guests almost always left as winners, and the audience loved it. Groucho has two stars, for both radio and television, on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and he, along with brothers Chico, Harpo, and Zeppo, are members of the Online Film & Television Association (OFTA) Hall of Fame. The cut signature is on a piece of paper or cardstock measuring 2.1x4". Using blue ink, Groucho wrote, "Best from Groucho." The cut inscription & signature have been encapsulated and PSA Certified NM-MT 8.
