Displayed is a 1919 Honus Wagner signed bank check from the Carnegie Trust Company, a local bank in the Hall of Famer's hometown of Carnegie, Pennsylvania. Wagner played 21 Major League seasons: Louisville Colonels (1897-99), Pittsburgh Pirates (1900-17). Remembered for his shortstop play, Wagner also played many games at first and third base and in the outfield. He won eight NL batting crowns and batted a career .328. He was a key part of three straight NL pennant winners from 1901-03, including the '03 squad that played in the first modern World Series, losing to the Boston Red Sox. Wagner was on the 1909 Pittsburgh Pirates World Champions. He had 3,420 career hits, and the most triples in MLB history (252). One of his greatest honors was when Wagner in 1936 became one of the original five inductees to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The bank check measures 3x8.1". The check is in the amount of $75.00 and made out to Nancy McBride. The check is inscribed and signed by Wagner, using blue ink from a fountain pen, as John H. Wagner. Wagner dated the check as Dec. 20, 1919. The bank check has been endorsed and cashed. The check has a stain on the left side, comprising about 1.5". Wagner's handwriting is legible and neat, including his signature. The check has three vertical folds, and the ink from Wagner's writing and the check itself displays some fading. The bank check has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA Certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO.
