Dwight Evans played all but the final year of his 20-year MLB career (1972-1991) with the Boston Red Sox and finished his playing years with the Baltimore Orioles. Presented is a 1988-89 Dwight Evans Boston Red Sox game used Worth Tennessee Thumper bat. Evans, nicknamed "Dewey," played in 2,505 games with the Red Sox, second only to Carl Yastrzemski. A right fielder, Evans had a lifetime MLB batting average of .272, with 385 home runs. In the time period during which at some point Evans game used the offered bat, he batted .293, with 21 homers and 111 RBIs in 1988 (when he was 9th in AL MVP voting), and .285, with 20 homers and 100 RBIs in '89. The 3-time All-Star was an 8-time Gold Glove winner. Etched on the barrel of the offered bat is Hand Crafted/Dwight Evans Model. The bat has a length of 33.5", and a weight of 31.1 ounces. The barrel end of the bat is cupped, and the handle has been crisscross wrapped in tape. The mid-point of the bat has a PSA/DNA sticker reading, 1B13144. The knob shows 24 in black marker written by an unknown hand. There is a Dwight Evans signature, in faded blue/green ink, on the barrel. The bat shows fine use: various paint or ink transfers, and scratches and dings. Plus, the crisscross handle tape shows great discoloration and wear. The game used bat makes a fine remembrance of an all-time Red Sox stalwart.
